Stammering also known as stuttering, is a speech condition which can affect how a person communicates.  It is often characterised by the repetition and prolongations of sounds, as well as silent pauses on words which are known as blocks.

Although, this is what is most closely associated with stammering, it has many hidden aspects as well. Stammering can deeply affect how a person feels, thinks and acts.  It can lead to social isolation, bullying, depression, anxiety, as well as many other secondary conditions.

Stammering is often described as an iceberg, as only a small part of what a person sees when someone stammers is above the surface, such as the physical characteristics but the majority below the surface, is the emotional toll it can take.
